Uffizi Tickets: Reserved Entry, Skip-the-Line and Combos

An Uffizi ticket is named, dated and timed. You pick a date and a slot, type a name for each ticket, and enter at Door 1 within that slot. Door 2 also sells same-day tickets, subject to availability. The museum does not state how many exist per day, and in July and August a morning slot is gone by the time the office opens at 08:15.

Visittuscany, the regional tourism board, states that Saturday and holiday visits must be reserved at least one day ahead. We could not find that sentence on uffizi.it itself, so treat it as the practice rather than the printed rule: on a Saturday, book.

The queue at Door 2 is shortest on a winter weekday at 08:15, and longest on the first Sunday of the month, when entry is free and no reservation exists. Our reserved entry takes the queue out of every other day.

Firenze Card holders (€85 for 72 hours, about $99) must still reserve an Uffizi slot: the card is not a ticket in hand. Reservation goes through the call centre on 800 615 615 from Italy or +39 055 0354135 from abroad, or on tickets.uffizi.it under the option for Firenze Card owners. Every Uffizi reservation runs through the gallery's own system, tickets.uffizi.it, which also handles Pitti, Boboli and the corridor. Each ticket carries a name, and staff may ask for ID at the door to match it. Our reserved entry is nominative too, so bring ID that matches it.

One mix-up catches a lot of readers. B-ticket, the system behind the Accademia, the Bargello and the Medici Chapels, has nothing to do with the Uffizi. The Accademia tickets page explains that system.

Reduced and free tickets still need a slot, booked for a time like any other, and both show ID at the door. The call centre answers Monday to Sunday 08:00–19:00 on 800 615 615 from Italy or +39 055 0354135 from abroad.

The gallery opens at 08:15 and closes at 18:30, and the ticket office shuts at 17:30. A first visit that wants the Botticelli rooms without crowds belongs at 08:15: they are empty then and merely calmer at 17:00.

A late slot fits a second visit, or a highlights run on a hot day when the second floor is a furnace at noon and cool by five. Either way, the reserved entry lets you pick the hour when you book.

There is no single museum ticket for the Uffizi and the Accademia. The two belong to different institutes with different booking systems, so our timed pair is the one-order way to hold both: fixed slots at each, for example Uffizi 09:30 and Accademia 14:30, from €30 (about $35) and non-refundable. The Vasari Corridor has one way in, through the Uffizi. Its tickets are named, non-transferable and fixed to a slot, and you must be at the meeting point five minutes before the corridor time. The first Sunday of every month is free at the Uffizi, as at every Italian state museum. No reservation is possible; the ticket is issued at the entrance. The museum lists disabled visitors and pregnant women as exempt from the queue on those days.

EU citizens aged 18 to 25, plus citizens of Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Uruguay in the same age band, pay a reduced fare with ID. Under-18s of any nationality enter free, and so do the groups listed in the eligibility table. Every one of these still books a slot in advance or queues at Door 2.

Groups of eleven or more pay a surcharge on top of the tickets, and groups of six or more must use headphones with their guide. Every guided card on this page includes the headsets and absorbs the surcharge in its price.
